On the Road to Yellowstone

30 08 2013

We’re headed north to Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone, with an overnight stop in Rawlins, WY.  We’re at the Rawlins KOA, just a few hundred yards from I-80 and with a train track somewhere in the background.  This may be one of the noisiest campgrounds we’ve ever stayed in!  Most all sites are pull-through with a varying degree of levelness.  We needed 1 block to level, our neighbors needed 3.  There are full hookup sites and some with only electricity, cable TV and water.  All of the roads and sites are gravel, ours included a large red ant hill right outside the door.

The former pool and hot tub area is now filled with dirt.  Shower house and restroom is clean and the onsite store has a few interesting Wyoming souvenirs.  Tomorrow we’re headed to Flagg Ranch on the north end of Jackson Lake and just a few miles from the Yellowstone entrance.  More from there…
